Our Training Philosophy

At Whistler Farm, Marc and Denise Hettig believe in using a variety of techniques in order to best train your dog for what you wish it to do.

We do not, as a rule, use treats. We also do not use any type of electronic stimulation except as an absolute last resort. Instead we use time-tested techniques that treat a dog as a dog — and not as a mindless robot or greedy, nipping, food hound.

We believe that a dog should make your life better and more fulfilled. If it doesn't, then you should either get the dog trained or get rid of it. If you do not have the time to put into the dog’s training, then we believe you should think twice about dog ownership. There are no quick fixes.
